Congratulations to our People’s Choice Winner and All Our Honorable Mentions

Our People’s Choice award for the best photo among our five Honorable Mentions goes to Maggie Van Zandt for her beautiful picture of an Eastern Bluebird against a backdrop of snow. Maggie’s photo had 42 likes and five comments on our Facebook page as of May 14th. This award gives facebook fans and friends a chance to see and share their thoughts on the various photos.

The 2015 Cole’s Seasonal Bird Photo Contest wrapped up with so many great photos, we had to give recognition to more than just first, second, and third place. That’s why we named five Honorable Mentions. “I am just so thrilled to see the quality of pictures. We are going to have one gorgeous calendar for 2016, thanks to our participants. These contests are part of Cole’s commitment to keeping a close relationship with the people who are using the products and giving our customers a chance to interact with the company. Cole’s is very grateful to all the people who participated in the contest”, Elaine Cole said.

Please continue to leave your comments and let us know your favorite photos. You can comment here or on the Cole’s Facebook page.

The Cole’s 2015 Seasonal Bird Photo Contest has been a fabulous one. Elaine Cole, President of Cole’s Wild Bird Products, had a very tough time selecting the best shots. “We are so happy with all the great photos. Thank you to everyone who took the time to submit your photo. We narrowed it down to about a dozen photos and then asked for input from several associates. I apologize for how long it took to select the winners. But, it was just such a tough decision”, Elaine said.

She sent several high quality photos depicting birds in various seasons. Sharon took both first and second place. Her first place photo of two American Goldfinches on a snowy, cold day won first place. Her photo of a brightly colored Eastern Bluebird on a sunny day took second place.

Third Place Jane Walker

Jane Walker, who won first place in an earlier Cole’s photo contest, submitted several beautiful entries. Her photo of goldfinches gathering in all sorts of positions to feast from colorful feeders took third place.

“There were just so many great pictures, that I decided we had to name some of them as Honorable Mentions. You can expect to see those photos posted on our Cole’s Facebook site next week. We are just so very thrilled to have such beautiful photos to choose from for our upcoming 2016 Cole’s Seasonal Bird Calendar”, said Elaine.

Sharon Turner’s first prize photo will be used in the 2016 calendar. Cole’s will be selecting from photos submitted over the years in various contests as well as some taken by the Cole family to fill out the rest of the calendar. “The goal of the new calendar is to share our many beautiful photos of birds and to depict the seasons as only birds can do”, said Elaine.

Watch for more updates on the Cole’s calendar and more postings of our Honorable Mentions, coming soon to Cole’s Facebook.

Cole’s Wild Bird Products congratulates the winner of the 2013 Cole’s Winter Bird Photo Contest. Debbie Kostolansky of Orland Park, Illinois, won top honors with her striking photo of a beautiful bright red male cardinal in the snow.“I snapped that photo of him when he was right outside my window,” Debbie said. She went on to explain that her other entry photo, which also made it to the finals, is that of a female cardinal, and the two of them are mates. “I see him feed her, and she usually shows up soon after he does at the feeder,” Debbie said.

Debbie is an amateur photographer and a birder. So, she gets a chance to combine her favorite hobbies when taking photos of birds. She enjoys feeding her feathered friends Cole’s suet products as well as sunflower seeds and safflower seeds during the winter. “I know they need the extra energy when it’s cold,” Debbie said.

Elaine Cole of Cole’s Wild Bird Products is thrilled with Debbie’s photos, which feature the birds eating. “You can actually see the food in their beaks. We love to see all the photos of birds in the winter, but seeing a bright red cardinal in the snow is always impressive,” Elaine said. She went on to say how pleased she was with all the entries.

“All of the finalist photos are just beautiful. I am so grateful that our Cole’s customers take the time to capture such great photos and then share them with the entire Cole’s community on the Facebook page. It’s fun to see all the positive comments, and I was just so delighted with the quality of the entrants. Congratulations to Debbie and to all the finalists,” Elaine said.

Finalists in the contest include Dawn Turner of Alexandria, Ohio who had two beautiful, professional quality photos of birds in the snow. Deborah Stallings of Parkersburg, Illinois whose photo showed a bird upside down with its head in a bag of Cole’s Suet Pearls, a definite favorite at Cole’s headquarters. And, Sharon Cruser of Canton, Georgia who had a cute photo of a male blue bird inside a feeder.

“Thank you to everyone who submitted photos and to our fans who stopped by to “like” the photos and to comment. It’s always fun to see our customers interact with us and with each other. We plan to have many other contests in the future,” said Elaine Cole.

Cole’s Creativity Contest Winner Announced

100_2241

Congratulations goes to Deb Stallings of Parkersburg, Illinois for winning the Cole’s Creativity Contest! Deb sent us this creative entry. She told us she broke a favorite butter dish. So, instead of throwing it out, she turned it upside down and created a bird feeder.

Elaine Cole of Cole’s Wild Bird Products says she admired the simplicity of the idea as well as the aesthetics of it. She said,  “I love the idea of recycling the products you already have and using them as bird feeders. Another entry we had involved recycling. It was a Christmas wreath turned into a bird feeder. Using items you might otherwise throw away is good for the environment and good for the birds.”

Elaine was impressed with the quality of entries as well. “All of our entries showed a great deal of creativity. I am always so impressed by the talents of our customers. And, I am very appreciative to everyone who sent in their creative idea, thank you”, she said.

This is one of several contests planned for 2013 to give Cole’s customers a chance to showcase their love for our little feathered friends. Cole’s also wants to help customers connect with other wild bird enthusiasts for great ideas and inspiration.

Cole’s is on Facebook as well and invites customers to “like” the Cole’s page and  join in the fun. It’s a great community for sharing and enjoying our hobby.

Deb Stallings will win a Cole’s prize package of suet products worth more than $60.

The prize package includes:

Hot Meats Suet
Special Feeder Suet
Natural Peanut Suet
Blue Ribbon Blend Suet
Suet Nuts
Suet Pearls
Suet Kibbles
Dried Mealworms
Nutberry Suet Blend
