We put it out in one feeder. It took a couple of days for gold finches to try it. They love it! It's the best, I have to keep filling it.

Birds Won't Eat It

We've had this food out for several weeks and the birds aren't eating it. We finally put out another feeder with plain sunflower chips and the birds are back eating the plain seeds but not the Hot Meats. We gave it a try but the birds just avoid it (and we have two bags of it).

We're sorry to hear our product did not meet your expectations. What you describe is not that uncommon when introducing any new food or feeder to your feathered friends. Here's a great Link to explain the phenomena in a little more detail:https://youtu.be/JydeQYI1mssIn short, when you change from a beige-colored seed to an orange-tinted, that color change can temporarily confuse the birds. As a result, sometimes it can take a few days to a couple weeks for your backyard birds to recognize the new hot seed offerings as a viable food source. Most songbirds are very visual and any change to a feeder's look or contents can cause a temporary decrease in bird activity. Once they get past the change and try it out, you will see a significant increase in bird visits and maybe even a few species you've never seen before! Of course and as always, if you are not completely satisfied with any Cole's product, we will be happy to facilitate a refund for you with the store where you purchased our product.

No more sunflower fields in my yard

I love this because it does not reseed in my garden like the sunflowers do. Also, we don't have squirrels but it has the same effect on the chipmunks. Since using Hot Meats I do not have chipmunk holes in my garden. Note: When filling feeders, make sure you're downwind. I learned that the hard way.

Works well. Thumbs Up

For this seed to work well it should be the only seed in your feeder. I first mixed it with other seeds and squirrels were not deterred. By itself though, the squirrels are not interested in the feeder anymore.

Type: Blended Seed

Nutritious sunflower meats infused with fiery hot habanero chilies, Hot Meats™ are a great no waste, no mess feed. Chock full of vitamins A and D as well as carotene, chili peppers are an excellent natural source of nutrition for birds.

Why do birds love the spicy flavor? Well, the chili pepper plant evolved over time to be attractive to birds. When a bird eats a chili, the seeds remain intact and pass through the bird’s droppings where they are spread over a wide area to grow and multiply. So chili peppers may taste hot to mammals like people, but birds do not feel the heat – all they taste is “Mmm Mmm Good!”

Bluebirds and cardinals are especially fond of the hot Cajun flavor. With Cole’s Hot Meats™ you’ll get more bird visits than ever before!
Works well in all feeder types including Cole’s Terrific Tube™, Mighty Mesh™, and Bountiful Bowl™.

Available in 5, 10, 20, 40 pound sizes

Awesome product

We love love love the heart meats for our beautiful birds. Keep the squirrels away. Just can’t keep enough need to order some more.

Great bird food

No more squirrels! Now if we could discourage blackbirds!!
When considering all the squirrels I was feeding with regular sunflower seeds, Hot Meats not that expensive, buying so much less without squirrels!

Expensive. But it works

I love how it keeps the squirrels away & the birds love it. The only drawback is how pricy it is even Bill Gates would struggle to buy it, but other than that it is great! Thanks for the great product ?

Love IT!

Bought this product due to keep squirrels away. Worked perfectly! No squirrels! Birds we didn’t see before with our other seed, we are now seeing with Hot Meats seed! Gone through over 5 lbs in less than 2 weeks!!

Doesn't work-squirrels love it

Connecticut squirrels love this seed as much as the birds do. Don't bother.

We're sorry to hear that your purchase didn't meet your expectations. We'd love for you to contact us directly (877-426-8882) so that we may assist you in improving your experience with Cole's Hot Meats. We will be more than happy to go over your particular situation and hopefully provide some tips and advice. Many people do not realize that they have as many as 20-30 squirrels in their immediate area. If you have not fed Hot Meats before, it could take a couple weeks for all the squirrels in your area to taste it and realize that it's not a palatable food source. So, it's very possible that you would see squirrels eating Hot Meats over a brief introductory period of time, but you should not see a single squirrel devouring an entire feeder in one sitting. Once the majority of squirrels get the message, then you will notice a significant decrease in squirrel visits coupled with a significant increase in bird visits. Having said all that - We want you to be happy, so please contact me if you need further assistance.
