Type: Blended Seed
Nutritious sunflower meats infused with fiery hot habanero chilies, Hot Meats™ are a great no waste, no mess feed. Chock full of vitamins A and D as well as carotene, chili peppers are an excellent natural source of nutrition for birds.
Why do birds love the spicy flavor? Well, the chili pepper plant evolved over time to be attractive to birds. When a bird eats a chili, the seeds remain intact and pass through the bird’s droppings where they are spread over a wide area to grow and multiply. So chili peppers may taste hot to mammals like people, but birds do not feel the heat – all they taste is “Mmm Mmm Good!”
Bluebirds and cardinals are especially fond of the hot Cajun flavor. With Cole’s Hot Meats™ you’ll get more bird visits than ever before!
Works well in all feeder types including Cole’s Terrific Tube™, Mighty Mesh™, and Bountiful Bowl™.
Available in 5, 10, 20, 40 pound sizes

No more squirrels! Now if we could discourage blackbirds!!
When considering all the squirrels I was feeding with regular sunflower seeds, Hot Meats not that expensive, buying so much less without squirrels!
I love how it keeps the squirrels away & the birds love it. The only drawback is how pricy it is even Bill Gates would struggle to buy it, but other than that it is great! Thanks for the great product 😀
Bought this product due to keep squirrels away. Worked perfectly! No squirrels! Birds we didn’t see before with our other seed, we are now seeing with Hot Meats seed! Gone through over 5 lbs in less than 2 weeks!!
Connecticut squirrels love this seed as much as the birds do. Don't bother.
We're sorry to hear that your purchase didn't meet your expectations. We'd love for you to contact us directly (877-426-8882) so that we may assist you in improving your experience with Cole's Hot Meats. We will be more than happy to go over your particular situation and hopefully provide some tips and advice. Many people do not realize that they have as many as 20-30 squirrels in their immediate area. If you have not fed Hot Meats before, it could take a couple weeks for all the squirrels in your area to taste it and realize that it's not a palatable food source. So, it's very possible that you would see squirrels eating Hot Meats over a brief introductory period of time, but you should not see a single squirrel devouring an entire feeder in one sitting. Once the majority of squirrels get the message, then you will notice a significant decrease in squirrel visits coupled with a significant increase in bird visits. Having said all that - We want you to be happy, so please contact me if you need further assistance.
I have a small patio with two feeders. The squirrels were taking over, no matter my attempts to keep them away. Then I found this seed and now, no more squirrels! I'm so happy! It works really well.
If your goal is to attract a couple of birds from time to time and only need to refill your feeder every couple of months, don't buy this seed. We have three large feeders regularly stocked with the Hot Meats seed, and we have to refill them every 3 weeks. Our feeders are swarmed with birds - bluebirds, goldfinches, cardinals, woodpeckers, you name it. They love the stuff. This is not a product to buy because you want to save money, but if you want to feed LOTS of birds, there is nothing better. If we did not love seeing all of these songbirds all year long, I would regret ever having tried this stuff. As it is, we are seven years in and just can't buy anything else.
Although I’ve always loved birds I never fed them and I’m 88 years old. Nearly 6 years ago my daughter brought over a bird feeder and a bag of Cole’s Hot Meats. I told her I didn’t want to hang the feeder far from the house since if I was to feed the birds I wanted to see them. I wanted the feeder right outside my bay window in the kitchen but I thought that would present two problems; one, I didn’t want a mess on my patio and two, I didn’t want squirrels right outside my backdoor. I guess my daughter- and Cole’s -had already figured those problems out …. Cole’s Hot Meats is solely sunflower meats- so there’s no shells, hence- no mess and the meats are infused with chili peppers—and squirrels don’t like it. My daughter hung the feeder, filled it with Hot Meats and the birds magically appeared. For the past 6 years when I sit at my kitchen table I can count on a bevy of beautiful birds frequently flying to my feeder. I happily watch them, they are delightful. Now, I have two new complaints, one is I wish I had started feeding the birds years ago and two, the birds love Hot Meats so much I cannot keep my feeder full! Just once in 6 years I used a different brand of feed when my Hot Meats ran out. Hardly any birds at all. I dumped that seed and replaced it quickly with my feed and my bird’s feed of choice…..Cole’s Hot Meats!
Finally a bird seed that the squirrels won't eat. We have battled this for years and are happy to have a solution.
Squirrels are eating Cole's Hot Meats like it's regular sunflower seeds. This just started. You better check your Quality Control staff.

We get all kinds of birds in our yard now and squirrels don't touch it! It's great!
